Located in the heart of Tapah Village, Tapah Cafe has garnered a reputation for its delightful offerings, especially among noodle enthusiasts. Customers rave about the Fried Mani-Cai Meesua, a wheat-based delicacy topped with crispy fried shrimp that elevates the dish to extraordinary heights. Nicholas Max Khoo praises the cafe for its Mani-Cai Bee Hoon, while Swee Kee Chew highlights the freshness of their Kak-Kueh and the rich flavors of Yong Tofu Soup, although the former is no longer available.

Amanda Tong mentions the café's Fried Taugeh Kolomee and kampung-style dishes, which resonate with those longing for home-cooked flavor. However, like many reviewers, she notes a persistent issue with flies that can detract from the overall experience. LeeChin Lim emphasizes the need for better cleanliness, yet he finds the food’s quality to be worth the trip.

All in all, Tapah Cafe emerges as a beloved spot that offers both nostalgic dishes and quality flavors, inviting diners to indulge in a fulfilling culinary journey amidst the charming backdrop of Sarawak.

Review highlights

Based on 115 reviews

Tapah Cafe in Siburan is well-regarded for its authentic and flavorful noodle dishes, particularly the fried manicai bee hoon and kolo mee, which are frequently praised for their taste and portion size. The cafe is also noted for its variety of freshly made traditional snacks like KakKueh and yong tofu soup, emphasizing a kampung-style culinary experience. Customers appreciate the freshness and balance of flavors, especially the inclusion of crispy fried toppings. However, a recurring concern among patrons is the presence of flies around the food, which detracts from an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. Despite this, the cafe remains a popular choice for locals seeking quality ZhiChar noodles in a nostalgic setting.

I've always come to this place for its Kak-Kueh (Corner Dumpling), Fried Mani-Cai Meesua and Yong Tofu Soup, although it serves other Zhi-Char noodles as well. It has 3 types of Kak-Kueh: Chinese chives, tau-knua (hard tofu) and Mangkwang (Jícama). These are freshly made and not as oily as those from Siburan's. Available everyday except Mondays. Most places serve Mani-Cai beehoon (rice vermicelli), whereas Meesua (thread noodle made of wheat flour) is used here. Its crispy fried dried prawns as toppings makes a world of difference. Lastly, the Yong Tofu soup with pig's liver and pork slices has a very delicate taste and texture. Definitely worth the long drive just to have a taste of all these. *** Sadly the Kak-Kueh is no longer available; the daughter got married and moved away.

Fried meesua with manicai topped with fried shrimps is very nice. Fried taugeh kolomee is good too. Chai kueh sengkuang, salted vegetable and chives are good, very kampung style. A lot of flies come to the table when meesua fried manicai is served. Guess they know what is good stuff.

Seems like one of the earliest coffee shop around Tapah. Also kind of popular with its noodles dishes. Kolo mee, bihun manicai. Intriwd the fried kolo mee and the black coffee. Nice. Mee portion not too big and bery well done.

Always come here for the fried manicai noodles... Probably the best in town. Super tasty with the crunchy fried shrimps on the top. Also ordered the salted fish pork slice. The only thing they should improve is the flies. They gotta find ways to get rid of these flies flying around and trying to eat our food. Super annoying.
